Ciao Italian style lovers,
Are you wishing for a landscape that just by looking at it makes you feel better ? So an itinerary through our vineyards could be what you are looking for.
Italy is the country with more vines in the world, precisely 80 different local vines, ( just 15 for France and Spain) according to International Vines Organisation.
The regenerating power of the vision of ordered vine rows which follow the sinuosity of our hills, the green extensions as far as the eye can see are a certain fact. These unique scenarios, fruit of man’s skilful work reconciles with nature.
All around Italy wineries are transforming themselves into real places where to live a wider experience than just pure wine purchasing.
Owners of historical wineries created resorts where you can sleep or taste local food and of course live an enlarged experience of wine tasting in presence of experts.
Some of them were able to combine the food and wine experience with art transforming their estate in museums thus adding to the beauty of nature the one of historical and modern pieces of art. There’s a very long list here we only indicate three:
- Art park La Court (Tenuta La Court) Castelnuovo Calcea (Piemonte)
- Cantina Zaccagni (Abruzzo)
- Tenuta Castelgiocondo dei Frescobaldi (Montalcino-Tuscany)
We personally visited three amazing wineries between Marche and Romagna.
Tenuta Mara-Wine Relais-San Clemente (Rimini): art in the vines.
It rises in an area next to the hilltop village of San Clemente dedicated to a great Italian vine: The Sangiovese. The visit of Tenuta Mara of around 2 hours, starts by the park with art masterpieces ‘en plain air’ and continues in the vineyard where the grapes are grown and then become the famous vine ‘Mara Mia’.
Classical music is diffused by the vines and accompanies the visit. The estate is a real natural oasis, symbol of a perfect ecosystem built with great skills over the years.
Indoors, the tour starts in the beautiful music room from which, through a staircase that is also a work of art, you enter the sacred places: the Tinaia, Cantina, Bottaia ( these are where wines are fermented, stored and cared for in the cellars).
Fattoria Mancini is a family owned winery, established in 1861.
The vineyards, of around 20 hectares of eco-friendly vines, are located in the Natural Park of Mount San Bartolo. They sit above the spectacular cliffs of Focara on the Adriatic coast, a few miles from Pesaro.
The principal grape variety of Fattoria Mancini is Pinot Noir, introduced into this area at the start of nineteenth century. After two centuries of evolution and adaption this particular Pinot Noir is now quite rightly considered a local grape.
The experience we suggest : during summer the Rive vineyard is open to public for aperitivo at sunset with a breathtaking sea view and tasting of local typical products.
Enio Ottaviani Winery San Clemente( Rimini) : wine tasting with friends.
It began 60 years ago with grandfather Enio Ottaviani. It’s located In San Clemente ( Rimini) and it’s a family run business, passed on from generation to generation, in continual development.
Just recently renovated, the vineyard is a real architectural modern piece of art which reflects its traditional spirit but with an eye to the future with the use of basic materials such as iron, wood and glass.
We suggest the wine tasting of around 1 hour.
The tour foresees:
. A visit to the winery with an expert winemaker
. a tour through the vineyard and in the Valconca fauna oasis.
. A visit to the wine cellar
. Tasting area: wine shop
It will end with a tasting itinerary of 5 wines: Strati- Bio Primalba – Caciara – Dado -Sole Rosso and the tasting of supreme local typical products.
So Cheers and Viva l’Italia.
